Brown recluse spider bite

The brown recluse spider Loxosceles reclusa is ubiquitous in the southeastern United States.
These spiders are not aggressive and attack people only if a person accidentally enters the territory that the spider considers his own.

The bite of a brown recluse spider or brown spider causes malaise, swelling near the bite site, followed by tissue necrosis and the appearance of a gangrenous scab.

On rare occasions, it is fatal when bitten by a brown recluse spider. Brown recluse spider bites are especially dangerous for children under 7 years of age.
