The main fighter for the right to kill hopeless patients, American doctor Jack Kevorkian is released after a ten-year prison sentence for the murder of a man, that is, for the act of euthanasia.

At large he expects a harsh reality – euthanasia is allowed only in one state in the United States, Oregon.

Under state law, this right can be exercised by terminally ill, mentally full-fledged adult patients who must apply for death twice, in writing and orally.

The experience of Oregon shows that only a tiny percentage of hopeless patients are ready to resort to this measure. In any case, even in Oregon, Kevorkian no longer intends to practice.

Today Kevorkian is 79 years old. He was diagnosed with hepatitis C and severe diabetes.

According to prison doctors, “Dr. Death” will not live a year. However, he does not intend to voluntarily give up his life either on his own or with the help of another doctor.
