At the end of October 2019, 18-year-old builder Loren Schauers worked at a construction site when he saw a rapidly approaching front-end loader.
He thought that the driver saw him and stopped, but the truck did not stop and flew at Loren at speed.
“I looked to the right and saw that my forearm was lying right next to me in the mud,” said Loren when giving the interview.
“I had to lie there for another 10 or 15 minutes before being able to remove the loader from me.”

At the hospital, Loren underwent an operation called “hemicorporectomy”, removed her legs, pelvis, lower back, urinary system, genitals, anus and rectum.
Doctors said that he would die a month after the operation, but he survived. Moreover, he is undergoing rehabilitation at home.
