There is a large population of bears in Russia. Sometimes these bears eat people. The tragedy took place in the Egarki National Park, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
A group of 13 tourists was resting in the park. On the evening of June 21, a 16-year-old who was working as an assistant tourism instructor went to the village store to buy groceries and did not return by the appointed time.
Two tourists went to look for a teenager and found a bear that was eating up the boy’s corpse by the stream.
The bear attacked the tourists, one of whom pretended to be dead, and the other began to fight off the beast using a knife.
The bear escaped, and the tourists reported the incident to the Rescue Service.
A group of tourists was urgently evacuated.
Two gamekeepers drove to the scene of the incident and hunted down the man-eating bear. At the same time, atypical behavior of the animal was observed: the bear tried to chase one of the gamekeepers.
Park employees explain what happened by the fact that this year there was a lot of snow and the weather was cold for a long time. The bear had nothing to eat and he attacked people.
