An unusual method of self-defense against a British tourist who harassed her was chosen by a resident of Crete, Marina Fanuraki.
20-year-old Briton Stuart Feltham met a 26-year-old Greek woman in one of the bars of Mallia, a resort town in Crete. The drunken young man quickly turned to frank harassment of a local resident and, even not embarrassed by the people in the bar, took off his trousers. As a result, Marina, who had previously tried to persuade the British to keep up with her, doused the Englishman’s genitals with a sambuca and flicked a lighter.
The Daily Telegraph notes that while the Briton, distraught with pain, tried to bring down the flames, the rest of the bar visitors shouted “bravo” and applauded the Greek woman, who the next day became the main character of the national news releases. However, today she will be interrogated by the police about the possible excess of self-defense measures.
As for the tourist, he is in one of the private clinics in Heraklion with second-degree burns.
