A woman suspected of being a witch and drinking the blood of babies was executed by villagers in the South American state of Guyana. Local police have arrested three attackers and are questioning the others.
The identity of the victim has not yet been established. According to local authorities, she aroused suspicions among people of unusual behavior. According to local beliefs, vampires take the form of old women, and can penetrate into homes through keyholes.
To cope with the “witch”, the villagers hammered her with brooms of palm leaves and poured a circle of grains of white rice around the body.
