Hacks, DDOS, Complaints and Threats

Hacks, threats, attacks

Of course, a project like DEADHOUSE attracted all sorts of inadequate assholes. However, he also attracted adequate people, and with some of them stable friendships arose. DDOS and hacking attempts have been repeated, but have not been successful.

Once during such an attack, I redirected traffic to the Russian search engine Yandex, which briefly fell under the onslaught of attacking bots. True, the situation was quickly normalized.

Complaints came to the site regularly, but the guys at Peterhost just forwarded these complaints to me.
Only later did I find out that DEADHOUSE.RU was blocked by a court decision in three Russian regions – Kursk, Tula and Tambov. They forgot to inform me about it.

I have been threatened many times by the strangest people. Either the neo-fascists didn’t like DEADHOUSE.RU, or the Tolkienists, or some other group of freaks, but apart from the threats “come, let’s showdown” it didn’t come up.
It was funny to read all the nonsense that these people wrote. Some believed that DEADHOUSE was a project of the Russian special services, but the neo-Nazi forum Format18 with the notorious Tesak in the title role was especially distinguished.

The neo-Nazis were divided. Some believed that DEADHOUSE shows the truth of life without any beauty or censorship, while others said that DEADHOUSE corrupts young people and demanded immediate punishment.
I just laughed at their comments.

Hacking

As I already wrote DEADHOUSE worked on SSI config files and PHP includes. It was quite time consuming, but it ruled out any possibility of hacking the site.

However, to publish news, something more perfect was required and for this, a leaky sieve (I learned about this later) Strawberry CMS blogging engine (formerly CuteNews, now the project is closed) was used.

So this very CuteNews had vulnerabilities through which they once defaced the project. True, the bug was quickly fixed, but the unpleasant feeling remained. Later I removed CuteNews from all my projects.

Even then, I was looking closely at WordPress, but I still could not get my hands on transferring it to this engine.

There were probably several tens of thousands of hacking attempts, half-educated hackers and script kiddie could not understand in any way that DEADHOUSE at that time represented a structure that could not be hacked in principle.

But hackers and script kiddie is another story
