A 36-year-old pregnant woman was drinking alcohol in the company of drinking companions when she suddenly went into labor. The woman gave birth to a girl and her colleagues in drinking alcohol guessed to call an ambulance.
The doctors arrived 20 minutes later and waited for the placenta to come out. However, a second child, a boy, appeared instead.
The mother and children were taken to the hospital. Mothers put on a drip to sober her up, and the children were placed in intensive care.
It was a premature birth at 27 weeks of gestation. Babies were born prematurely weighing 900 grams (1.98ft).
The newborns did not make a sound, but their brains remained intact. What was the surprise of doctors when they saw that barbiturates, isopropyl alcohol and acetone were present in the blood of babies. The babies were in a state of alcoholic and drug intoxication, 0.5 ppm of alcohol was found in their blood, i.e. about 100 grams of vodka.
However, the babies survived, their condition changed from ‘very bad’ to severe and they may have a chance to survive.
